David H. Sachs, a Scientific Partner of Aravis, is Professor of Surgery and Immunology at the Harvard Medical School, Boston as well as Director of the Transplantation Biology Research Center, Surgical services at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He specializes in transplantation medicine and immune tolerance and is an expert in xenotransplantation.
Professor Sachs acted as scientific advisor to the Lombard Odier Immunology Fund and to the Board of Immerge BioTherapeutics, Inc. Among many other professional memberships David H. Sachs serves on the Harvard Medical School Executive Committee on Immunology, Harvard Medical School Research Council for the Faculty of Medicine.
Professor Sachs has received many honors and awards including the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Health Research by The Medical Foundation (2001), the Jean Borel Award in Transplantation, the ASTP/Novartis Established Investigator Award (1998), the AST Distinguished Achievement Award (2005), the Martin Prize for Excellence in Clinical Research in 2009 and the Thomas E. Starzl Prize in Surgery and Immunology in 2012. He was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in 1996.
